2006 Yearbook: Summary of Activities Year 2005

New Acropolis is an international non-profit cultural association, having a philosophical, cultural and social approach. It was founded in 1957 with the purpose of promoting the study of philosophy as a global means to integrate Science, Arts, Ethics and Metaphysics to achieve global human development. This vision is implemented through a broad range of programs that combine theoretical and practical education in different fields.

Present in more than 50 countries, in five continents, New Acropolis brings together thousands of active members and hundreds of thousands of friends and supporters. They express themselves in 15 different languages and represent a large variety of cultural heritages, ethnical backgrounds and beliefs, offering a powerful model of solidarity and fraternal coexistence.

Our objectives are founded upon classical philosophy, that is, a philosophy that is mainly practical and active, not only intellectual and theoretical. With members of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and social levels, IONA emphasizes principles of union and mutual collaboration beyond cultural, social and religious differences.

Its members and sympathizers actively participate in the academic, social and professional domains of diverse communities, through a multitude of volunteer work projects. The following activities summary represents a condensed view of a large number of efforts and generous collaboration on the part of all our members.
